Singapore Special Day 3

So after venturing everywhere for food we discovered that just around the corner there was a small food court where a lot of local works go for breakfast. With the heat already rising early in the morning I feel like nothing but fruity juices to help me survive the days.

I was happy to see this place had calamansi juice. Calamansi is a citrus fruit found in Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia. Reminds me of a kumquat or a lime. Calamansi is one of those ingredients that truly make Filipino and Malaysian dishes great. In juice form is was truly refreshing and a great side to my dish.
My breakfast was a thosai aka dosa. I normally have these in Indian restaurants in Sydney but had to give it a try as is also a staple dish that's widely popular in Malaysia. It's a common breakfast dish that's rich in carbohydrates but has no saturated  fats or sugars.
Dosa is stuffed with fillings of vegetables and a side dipping sauce makes for a quick meal. They are typically served with a vegetarian side dish which varies according to regional and personal preferences. It wasn't as great as some of the one's I've tried but this heavy breakfast sure keeps you full for ages.
My highlight of the day and possibly the trip was our visit to Jumbo. Jumbo is famous for their seafood and has won many service and gourmet awards. Our pit stop was for one sole reason, Chilli Mud Crab. Just looking at the photo is making me hungry. We ordered two crabs, it was smothered in a to-die-for sauce that wasn't overly spicy. A side ordering of Mantau which is a kind of steamed bread. Dip it in and enjoy and wash it all down with a Tiger beer.
For dessert, we noticed that on the way there we passed by many ice cream sandwich carts. They pull out a block of ice cream in your flavour of choice, ask if you want bread or wafer and voila ice cream sandwich, another perfect solution for the heat. Eat quick because it melts fast.
The chilli mud crab kept us full for ages, only needed a top of varied fruit juices at the market. Dragon Kiwi and Malaysian Starfruit Juice. It was fresh juice mixed with water. No added sugar so unless you chose a naturally sweet fruit, it was quite bland.
Also on our walking adventure we noticed this Chupa Chups dispenser. So cool! Feels like something they would find many years later in American Pickers and sell it to a collector.
